With the aim of informing, guiding and advising European car users about the true efficiency and use of the latest pure electric cars, the AUTOBEST international independent organization has performed in June 2024 a new edition of its ECOBEST Challenge.13 new cars from 13 different manufacturers were evaluated under true real life, real traffic, similar and reproductible conditions and went through 7 different kinds of tests which results are of the highest interest for users of electric vehicles.
The ‘ECOBEST Challenge 2023, electrified by VINFAST’ and supported by Quattroruote, is the first European independent real traffic test of mainstream EVs to reveal the real green credentials. It remains the only such test with a transparent, neutral and balanced approach. The results come from a consistent methodology of testing performed identically on all 14 cars. This methodology is inspired by the practical needs and driving behavior of most European motorists, coming from the habits in their daily commuting.
ECOBEST Challenge 2022 took place from October 25th to 27th 2022 at Quattruote in Vairano, Italy and attracted 14 electric cars from 13 different well-known manufacturers such as Renault, Volvo, Kia Niro, Skoda, Hyundai, Audi, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Ford, BMW but also new comers like Aiways, MG and Seres.”
ECOBEST Challenge 2021- Terrassa. November 2nd 2021 – AUTOBEST chose Terrassa, near Barcelona as the location for its first real traffic range test for electric vehicles from November 4th to 6th. The ‘ECOBEST Challenge Electrified by Vinfast’ gives European customers trusted data on the real range of 15 mainstream electric cars currently on sale.”
AUTOBEST inaugurated a new relevant project of the automotive landscape: the first independent European comparative test of electric cars. This is the first real range comparative test performed independently. The test was prepared by the team of www.coches.net led by Joan Dalmau, the Spanish member of AUTOBEST. 9 AUTOBEST Jury members have been present in Barcelona, Spain to drive all the EV’s sold in Europe at that time.

In 2009 AUTOBEST launched ECOBEST Challenge project, as a world’s first project for measurements of consumption, CO2 emissions, pollutants and micro particles. ECOBEST Challenge was launched years before Diesel gate scandal, with the aim to give consumer real data in real life traffic.
